Here's to a new start

I started this blog back in 2005 as a way of expressing my interests.  It than became a random place to write posts.  No one besides my friends at the time would respond and so decided to just completely ignore it.  I have decided this year that I would push forward and start anew.  As I mention in the description, this blog is for anyone to express their thoughts, opinions or to just talk in general.
In the last 9 months my life has turned upside down, but I am beginning to get on my own two feet.  I have met some great people in my life who have become great friends too.  I am completely grateful for all of them.

So here is to a new year with new adventures and endeavors.

Long time no see

It's been a while since I have written anything on this website. Life has been crazy since November and I have had no time to myself. But that is a good thing, because most of that time has been gone by spending time with my son. He is 1 year old and I cannot believe it!! Life has really put me to the test in the past year and I almost felt like I was gonna fail. But I held my head up high and fought as best as I could. I just learned that I am grateful for what I have. As in everyone's mind, there is the hindsight of "what if i did that instead" but than you wouldn't be where you are today. And on top of that you wouldn't be who you are today. I am officially out of hiding and will do my best to keep up with my writing.

An upside with a twist

So a very good friend of mine works for Groupon and I have been privileged to have access to some of the deals that come out. I was browsing and I found the link below . Now this seems like a great deal for a bachelorette party tonight or to just explore. For those of you who take advantage of this deal or go just to check it out, please do tell me your experience. :)

Link to fun :)

Have fun.

It has been a long time

It has been over a year since I have posted on this blog. In that time there have been ups and downs-unfortunately more downs than ups. The one upside is that I finished my puzzle. Even with the happiness of this accomplishment I have become the worst version of myself - as Tom Hanks said in 'You've Got Mail'. I have gotten to a point where I don't know what or who I am anymore and what I even want to do with my life. Yes, I know that I have my issues, but I am trying to improve myself and am looking for a second chance. Religious people can say that oh it was the doing of a higher power, but this was all my doing. I would say in a way that this is my punishment and it is well deserved, but I am not the only one that is suffering. This is very cliche, but I wish I had a genie lamp in front of me so I could rub the lamp and start things all over again.
When I was young I remember that most of the students my age pursued paths as per the "fad" of that time; and I was one of them. However, I specifically didn't realize that this "fad" was beyond my capabilities but unfortunately due to pressures and inevitable failure, I kept pursuing it. I say do what makes you happy, but the difficulty develops in pursuing that happiness.

Puzzle Progress

So I have been working on the puzzle for about a week now and have the border with one corner almost complete. It may be hard to believe, even I don't believe it, but this puzzle is much easier than the 2,000 piece puzzle that I did. And I think the main reason is that there are different colors and scenes that's its easier to separate the pieces and put them together. Said that it's still not easy cause most of the pieces just go together even if they aren't meant to fit. So the key thing is to look at the pattern of the design for that piece, if it doesn't flow not meant to be together. And it's harder than it looks because if all the pieces are green, it becomes blinding. But I still love it!!!!! I will post of pictures soon. I have a friend coming over this weekend so hopefully we will get further.

Been away and thinking of "The World"

I know I have been away for a while, but I have been obsessing over working on this puzzle. Now if I could use this dedication in my job, I'd be the perfect (almost) worker. I don't know what it is, but even if I get stuck with the puzzle, I just keep going. I guess its because I am doing this for myself that it makes a huge difference. When we encounter problems at work, we create excuses out of nowhere in order to get out of it. Basically take no responsibility for it.

The puzzle dilemma

So I have started working on my puzzle and realized that my puzzle mat is too small. It only holds jigsaw puzzles up to 6,000 pieces. And in my search for finding a larger puzzle mat, I found out that it doesn't exist. Anyone know where a larger map for puzzles up to 9,000 pieces can be found? If anyone knows let me know.

Life is truly a mystery

As most of know, Patrick Swayze passed away from pancreatic cancer at the age 0f 57. This year has just been so depressing. Important and iconic people in our lives slowly leaving this planet. I think of it as God needs them more next to him rather than living here on Earth. Hopefully, they can solve the puzzle of life from up there for us :)

RIP to all those that have passed away

The puzzle is on its way

So I contacted the website from where I purchased my puzzle and found out that it was back ordered, but they didn't update the website to state it. The puzzle will be sent out on Wednesday or Thursday with Priority Mail. I was expecting it to take over a week to get to me, but with the upgraded mailing system it'll only take 2-3 days. So excited. I know I say that now, but I have a feeling I am gonna get aggravated very easily.

Start of a new puzzle!!!

And the winner is...

So with a vote of 6 to 5, The World Map 1611 jigsaw puzzle has won. So this weekend's plan includes purchasing the 9,000 piece puzzle from Ravensburger.com. I will post pictures and my progress with the puzzle week by week or as often as I can. Looking forward to starting another one. I just hope this doesn't take me a year to do, but I have a feeling it'll be 2 years.

Welcome Back Me

So I was in Salt Lake City over the holiday weekend for a family reunion on my husband's side. We had a lot of fun. Beautiful scenery and mountains galore. Got to see my niece and nephew and they are as cute as ever. We ended up going on the Tram at Snowbird to the top of the mountain range. I refused to go to the edge to see the view, because it was just too high. But looking straight ahead the view was amazing. Talk about a panoramic puzzle :) !!!!!

Arts and Crafts Convention

So I was doing some research and found that there is an association that exists for games and puzzles (Association for Games and Puzzles). Next year they have a 5 day Carribean cruise with vendors and all the amenities of being on a cruise ship. Now who wouldn't enjoy that. Check out the link http://www.agpc.com.

Monday blues

So I woke up today in a dull mood again. I confronted the reality that I have no desire to go beyond the marked finish line. When I was in high school I was one of many that had no desire to do anything or become something. Some people have the initiative and achievement drive to do more than just the norm. I think my personality is such that allows me to adapt to different environments and make myself a part of the group, but I have no desire to become the leader or to take a step up.
I like staying inside the lines and not going outside the box. I find it to be too stressful and I don't want to go out of my comfort zone. This is contradictory to doing jigsaw puzzles, where even though there is no picture I still like putting the puzzle together. I guess the conclusion is that the type of stress that you obtain depends on whether you want to confront it or just completely avoid it.

Lazy Sunday

Another lazy Sunday and as always I don't feel like going to work tomorrow. Once at work it's another but after the weekend it's just a little hard. My parents came over Saturday and ended up going for a walk to discover the waterfront of the city. That was a bit of a maze but now we know where we can ride our bikes and enjoy before the summer officially ends. Has anyone done the full bike path North to South in New York city? If so, are there any highlights along the path that are worth seeing. Please post comments.

The typical work day

My work day is like trying to put a no picture puzzle together. Getting many pieces and acquiring the ability to put them in the right place. You have to know the pieces extremely well to know where to place them. It's almost like a piece of art and each day is a masterpiece because no day is the same. Not complaining just saying that my job is very entertaining yet very knowledgeable and rewarding. Can you say the same?

The surprise

So me and my husband decided to go out for dinner tonight, considering that we were both cooped up at work behind a desk. We wanted something new rather than the usual cuisine that we have. My husband found a Turkish restaurant literally around the corner from us called Sip Sak. We looked at the menu and saw that there was an Eggplant Mousaka on the menu and I love mousaka. So we met after work and asked for the mousaka and turns out that it has beef in it already so they weren't able to make it vegetarian.
So we decided to get two appetizers and share an entry. And SURPRISE we thought it was tasty and very delicious. We were surprised but in a good way. The cover of the puzzle box said one thing but the puzzle that was created turned out to be something completely different.
